The Praja Rajyam official spokesperson, Mr Parakala Prabhakar, has demanded the home minister, Mr K. Jana Reddy to resign immediately owning responsibility for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr Prabhakar strongly objected to the encounter in which the three acid attackers were killed in Warangal. A minister who does not have respect for law, has no right to continue in office, he said. “Mr Jana Reddy wants to cling to power at any cost and never showed any responsibility towards the welfare of the people. In order to cover up his own follies and divert the attention of the people, the home minister organised the encounter,” Mr Prabhakar alleged. Expressing serious concern over the encounter, Mr Prabhakar said if the trend continued, the state would see dangerous consequences in the future. “There is no security in the state. Apart from the vulnerable section like children, women and elders, even the police personnel are not feeling safe in the present situation,” the spokesperson said. He cited the incident at Balimela where 36 police personnel were killed by the Maoists, snatching away of newly born by stray dogs in Niloufer hospital, acid attacks on the girl students, Ayesha murder case and a series of violent incidents which have been rocking the State.
In spite of these incidents, the home minister was not owning any responsibility. Regarding party campaign, Mr Prabhakar said Praja Ankita Sabhas would be held for six days in Nalgonda and Medak districts instead of Ankita Yatra. The party president, Mr Chiranjeevi would address 30 public meetings in 22 constituencies. Regarding an alliance with the TRS, he said talks were still going on and a decision would be arrived at shortly. So far committees have been formed in 10 districts and Vizag panel would be announced in a week’s time. There would be separate wings — rural and urban for city units, he added. -D C
