Balakrishna(NBK) role in T D P is still a suspense

N B K role in T D P is still a suspense

The Telugu Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday tried to play down the political role of NTR’s son and actor, Nandamuri Balakrishna. While addressing mediapersons at the NTR Bhavan a day after the TD’s Yuva Garjana, Mr Naidu said that he had not decided whether Balakrishna would be campaigning for the part in the coming polls. “This issue has not been discussed,” he said. “Even Balakrishna has not put this proposal before me.” Balakrishna had made his maiden political speech at the Yuva Garjana meeting in Guntur on Wednesday. When asked whether Balakrishna would contest the polls, Mr Naidu side-stepped the issue and said stars of the NTR family would conduct a massive campaign for the party. He also evaded the question on whether Balakrishna was a member of the TD and restricted himself to saying that NTR’s son had been campaigning for the party for so many years. The TD chief’s responses would give ammunition to his critics who have said that he would use the NTR family to come to power and then dump them. Interestingly, Mr Naidu, who is banking on cine glamour of NTR family to regain power, criticised the government for utilising the services of another film hero, Akkineni Nagarjuna, to promote the Rajiv Arogya Sri Health Insurance Scheme. The Congress government was hiring actors to hide its corruption and anti-people policies, he said. Mr Naidu claimed that nearly 25 lakh youth attended the Yuva Garjana held on Thursday at Guntur.DC

C B N looked pale at Yuvagarjana?

Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu looked very pale and uninspiring before Balakrishna and other members of N T Rama Rao family. C B N face looked pale as the event was dominated by Nandamuri family. Even the other party leaders focussed on Balakrishna and others, rather than on Chandrababu Naidu. Though he promised all things to all people free of cost, he had certain focus on several issues. Hope Balakrishna will learn how to make political speeches very soon.

Yuvagarjana is to mobilize votes

It quickly became clear that the Yuva Gar-jana, the Telugu Desam’s public meeting near here on Wednesday, was intended to polarise castes in the caste-sensitive coastal region. The TD’s support has eroded especially among the Kapus after the advent of Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam. The TD is now attempting to bring other castes together under the leadership of Kammas, a dominant caste in the TD. The response to Wednesday’s meeting and unity among Kamma leaders in Krishna and Guntur districts said it all. “We are working with the aim that we should not lose our vote base at any cost,” said a senior TD leader. The TD is also worried about the exodus of mino-rities towards the Congress. On Wednesday, the party invited Ms Shamshad Begum, the mother of Ayesha Meera who was raped and murdered at Vijayawada last year, to speak at the meeting. In a bid to clear doubts about the caste domination in the TD, Balakrishna, the main attraction at the Yuva Garjana, said he would be a “Brahmin, Vysya, Kshatriya, Reddy, Kamma, Kapu, BC and minority” for the people. He said that he was for the party president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, to become the Chief Minister if the TD won the election. DC

Purandareshwari advises to be careful with C B N

In her highly emotional letter to her brothers, the Union minister of state, Ms Daggubati Purandareswari, recalled that in 1995, Mr Naidu took the help of Harikrishna to topple N.T. Rama Rao and then sidelined him. Mr Naidu has lately rehabilitated Harikrishna only to gain power, she said. “When NTR declared that Balakrishna was his political heir, Mr Naidu compelled him to withdraw the announcement,” Ms Purandareswari said. She wondered how Mr Naidu who used to say he was against nepotism was now going out of his way to persuade NTR’s sons to support him. “Mr Naidu who never respects relatives is craving for NTR’s family support only for power. “He roped in Balakrishna in order to persuade Taraka Ratna, who preferred his uncle as Chief Minister to Mr Naidu,” Ms Purandareswari said. Mr Naidu needed Balakrishna to persuade Junior NTR to support him, Ms Purandareswari wrote. “Power hungry Naidu is once again using all tricks to achieve his aim through NTR’s sons.” Ms Purandareswari reminded her brothers that she had joined the Congress only with their blessings. She asked her brothers, “I can’t bear to see the injustice done to our father. I have seen his anguish very closely,” she wrote. “The legendary personality who never yielded to anybody suffered during his last days due to the wrong doings of Mr Naidu.” “Those painful memories linger in my mind. I appeal to you to recall our father’s agony and act in accordance as his heirs.”DC
